Barocco DiVino at Palazzo Chigi: where past and present toast together.

Palazzo Chigi: History and Masterpieces
Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia is one of the finest remaining examples of a Baroque residence, still intact in its furnishings and original architectural structure. Once occupied by a 16th-century palace owned by the Savelli family, it underwent a complete transformation between 1664 and 1672 under the Chigi family, with a design by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and the collaboration of his pupil Carlo Fontana. Inside, you’ll find the Museum of Roman Baroque which houses paintings, furniture, sculptures, and art collections from the 1600s onwards — many sourced from other Chigi residences. Among the preserved masterpieces is the decorative cycle known as The Four Seasons: notably, the painting Spring (also called Fiori e Lauri) created by Mario de’ Fiori together with other artists.
Barocco DiVino: A One-of-a-Kind Experience
Barocco DiVino is a unique journey through time. Palazzo Chigi doesn’t just serve as a stunning backdrop: it welcomes us into its rooms as if we were guests — if only for a night — of one of the most influential families of the Baroque era. A dynasty with medieval roots that shaped the history and culture of Lazio and the world. The Chigi family supported extraordinary artists such as Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Mario de’ Fiori, and — even before them — Raphael, Sodoma, Lorenzo Lotto, and Sebastiano del Piombo, to name just a few. Thanks to this noble house, many timeless masterpieces were born. Additionally, for just five more years, visitors can admire the exceptional oil painting The Taking of Christ by Caravaggio. In the chapel of the grand ballroom, a stunning sanguine drawing by Bernini will literally take your breath away.
What to Expect
Throughout the entire event, visitors can purchase wines, local specialties, and artisanal delicacies. This is a true journey through history, taste, and the discovery of the region. It’s the perfect opportunity to reconnect with local food and wine traditions, featuring indigenous grape varieties and classic dishes. And of course, it’s also your chance to admire the area’s Baroque artistic heritage. The harmonious blend of past and present, elegance and conviviality. For lovers of art, history, fine food, and great wine. As well as, for anyone simply looking for a unique weekend getaway: Barocco DiVino is an unmissable event.
